Niboban was once known as the Abbott Farm. On September 28, 1900 the Phillips Phonograph published that Mr. Duncan B. Harrison purchased the Abbott Farm which he later named Ethelwald. According to the Maine Woods Volume 37, Issue 12, the purchase consisted of 200 acres.
